Most of the time it was believed that the directory submissions will provide the high page rank and traffic juice to webmasters. But that kind of beliefs are no longer stays.

And especially in terms of free directory submission, the hope of getting back link juice and direct traffic is almost zero (That may vary in terms of numbers).

In my personnel experience I came to know that the sites that are accepting the free submissions in terms of getting back links are cheating the webmasters miserably by the way of including into their database some times even they are not considering the inclusion. of free submissions.

Apart from that kind of approach by the directories some other points have given below, why i am telling that the directory submissions are no longer getting traffic.

Not Having Enough Traffic:

The directory that the webmaster itself not getting enough traffic , only the webmasters are constantly viewing their sites while the real end users only uses the major search engines.

Listing Pages Are Not Indexed:

Considering the main page of the directories, the listing pages are not frequently indexed or some times zero indexed. Then what remaining for webmasters if it is not cached, nothing.

More Outbound Links In Directory Listings:

Links are provided by directories contains , placed with more out bound links of actual listings, premium listings, advertisements and etc.

When the listings are placed, the page may consist more than 50 outbound links means just calculate the page rank remaining for the webmaster.

Non SEO Friendly Listings:

Most of the directories don’t use SEO friendly directory design for listing, the listings are placed in dynamic URL s, that are not even indexed.

Low Page Rank:

Seriously the listing pages of the directory is doesn’t have enough page rank , some times the main page of the directory itself also the same.

Duplicate Content:

Duplicate content will be the most popular reason and fast way to got penalized by Google. This type of duplicate content may due to may various reasons, it was came to know that most of the webmasters doesn’t know about their site have penalized by Google. The duplicate content may result not only stealing the content from other sites it may result from our site itself.

Link Selling:

Selling the links from the site will also devalue the site from Google Point of view. Selling the links from the site solely for money will results you the problem of getting penalized by Google.

Hidden Texts or Links:

Hiding the texts or links using small fonts or invisible color codes will irritates the Google that’s will pays you the penalization as result. Site using this kind of hidden texts or links are greatly devalued by Google.

Keyword over Dose:

When your keyword used in your site will not matches with your site them or posts then it turns against you for being penalized. Excessive use of keywords used in site or Blogs will gives you the problem of getting penalized. Using the same keyword and description for different pages will make the Google penalizes your site.

Door way Pages And Suspicious Redirects:

This type of problem causes serious effects on a site’s traffic and also for a long time.

Using a Mod Rewrite rule or a 301 Permanent Redirect will be the remedy for this kind of problem.

Linking With Bad Neighborhoods:

Linking with banned sites that will also be the cause for being banned by Google.

When you doing a link exchange campaign, it was better to check the linking sites from regular crawling.

Getting Links From Bad Web Sites:

Getting the link from suspicious sites that handles phishing, spamming or any type of suspicious activity against legal forms.

Violating Web Master Guidelines:
